More: http://curiouslylocal.com Larry Pletcher has been growing organic produce in Warner, NH for 20 years on a 50-something acre farm in the foothills of Kearsarge Mountain. He calls his place The Vegetable Ranch, and with the help of Stacey, his farm manager, and others, he's been expanding production for the past several years. He sells, as he says, "everything we can grow." For the past four years Larry has thrown his veggies in with produce from the Keasarge Gore Farm (Bob Bower and Jennifer Ohler) as a CSA (Consumer Supported Agriculture) call the Kearsarge Mountain CSA. Last fall he put up a large hoop greenhouse to grow greens in the winter, and started a winter CSA. And this January he's built a small barn for winter storage vegetables. Storing potatoes, carrots, beets, squash, turnips and other calorie crops is a key step in creating a year-round source of local food.
